The Wider Resources

Although self-contained, the Pre-preparatory Department  benefits from the excellent resources of the adjoining main school: the Octagon performance space, the outdoor swimming pool, the historic Pilgrims' Hall, the Wolvesey and New Piece playing fields, to name but a few, are all readily accessible. The main school library, with our specialist Librarian, afford a useful extension to learning for the older Pre-Preparatory children.  Together with the expectation of high academic standards, sport and musical excellence are naturally of great importance, and are nurtured from the very beginning. Swimming, for example, takes place in the superb 25m indoor pool of Winchester College, a short walk from The Pilgrims', and music, for which The Pilgrims' School is renowned, is much encouraged with the emphasis on enjoyment and participation. The wider environs of the Cathedral Close with its gardens, rich history and wild life also form an integral part of our approach to an imaginative style of traditional and progressive education.
