Open days and visits

Coronavirus update

The Pilgrims' School is a busy, vibrant community, which we love to share with visitors. Unfortunately, in accordance with Government guidelines we cannot welcome visitors at the moment, and the school is open only for the children of key workers and certain year groups only. Pilgrims' pupils who are not in school are at home, following a full programme of academic lessons and enrichment activities with their teachers online.

WHILE WE ARE CLOSED TO VISITORS, WE ARE PLEASED TO SHOW YOU THE SCHOOL IN A SERIES OF SHORT FILMS
WATCH OUR VIRTUAL TOURS HERE

The Admissions team is also working from home, and we will be delighted to answer any questions you may have about joining the school. If you would like to arrange a time to chat with the Head or the Registrar, please leave your contact details and any particular questions here and we will respond as soon as possible.

9.00 AM  - 12.00 NOON
BOOK YOUR PLACE HERE

We hold two whole school open mornings each year. They are held during a normal school morning so that you can spend time in our classrooms and get a sense of how we teach, and how the boys learn. Our senior boys will be your guides, and you are welcome to ask them lots of questions. Be prepared for long answers, our boys love to chat! The Headmaster, teachers, and current parents will be available to meet you, and there will be a continuous flow of refreshments to keep you going.

The Pre-Prep holds additional events each term for parents with pre-school children, with a focus on EYFS and joining the school in Reception. More information can be found in our Pre-Prep pages, here.

Drop in to a match, see our sport

Matches are played on Wednesday and Saturday afternoons on our sports pitches adjacent to the school, next to Wolvesey Palace at the bottom of Wharf Hill (SO23 9NF). You are welcome to come and watch, please check the school calendar for fixtures. In the summer, there is an ice-cream van parked right outside...

Individual tours

When the coronavirus restrictions have been lifted, you will be very welcome to arrange an individual tour during the week, on a school morning.

Don't forget to pop upstairs and see our themed dormitories, which “must be the nicest anywhere” (Good Schools Guide)

New to Winchester?

Our open mornings are an ideal opportunity to come with your family to explore the school and our beautiful location. We are moments away from the town with lots of child-friendly places to eat, drink and stay. There's a riverside walk from our gate, which leads to a lovely park and the High Street with places to eat, and we are just a short drive from the countryside and coast. Why not make a day of it? Winchester has a great website which you might find helpful.

Our Location

We are blessed with a truly idyllic location. Just an hour south of London by direct train, with easy access to all the major travel hubs, and yet we are surrounded by the stunning countryside of the South Downs National Park. The school is tucked away  between Winchester Cathedral and Winchester College, within the secure and secluded Cathedral Close. Moments from our front door is the heart of the historic city of Winchester, or step through our back gate to find water meadows, countryside, and the South Downs Way.
