Counting the annual growth rings on the trunk of a tree is the traditional way of finding out the age of a tree, but what if the tree is still standing?
Using a method that required the boys to focus on the circumference of the tree and a bit of maths, the boys in Year 3 were able to calculate the approximate age of the trees in The Pilgrims' Garden. The boys were encouraged to estimate before measuring the tree.
