Year 5 residential to Calshot Activities Centre

Year 5 headed to Calshot Activities Centre this week for a well-earned 2-night residential trip after a week of internal exams before the exeat weekend.
The boys really threw themselves into the instructor-led sessions, which ranged from some open-water kayaking around the bay, tackling some of the climbing walls in the old aircraft hangar, improving cycling skills with 'fixie' bikes with some laps of the velodrome, dry ski slopes, giant swings and more! The evening activities included taking part in a Calshot run 'egg-drop' activity on the first night and some peaceful charcoal drawing of Calshot Castle on the second night.
Most importantly, I was really impressed with how well the boys were keen to work together as a year group, with everyone helping each other out in the activities during the day, and also with the boys spending time with those they don't necessarily spend time with during the pockets of time in between activities. There was a lovely moment when some boys went for a quick dip in the sea before dinner, with the rest of the year group playing and talking with each other on the beach to the side.
My thanks go to Mr Greenwood, Mrs Brill and Mr Edwards for giving their time up this week to help out with the trip, and to the boys for being such fun throughout the 3 days, and for embracing the trip in the glorious sunshine!
