After Harvest Festival last week, your generous donations were packed up and given to charity. Thank you to everyone who was able to help.

On Tuesday morning our Year 8 charity reps  Alfie, Boris and Henry loaded and unloaded the minibus to deliver the very  generous haul of Harvest festival donations to the Winchester Basics Bank

Manager Angus told the boys that as well as the food donations, the charity spends £94,000 a year on food it buys in for people who are struggling, again raised through donations.  Once everything was dropped off, Alfie asked manager Angus what the most useful food is for people to donate.  Angus said it's definitely the staples; dry pasta and rice.  But they also need soups, beans and tins of anything that contain protein.  The boys noticed that Winchester Basics Bank does also take donations of clothes.

On the way back to school in the minibus Alfie said 'I'm amazed at the work that goes in all year to give food and clothes to people.'

Boris added, 'It was amazing to see people who take time out of their day to volunteer and sort it all out to give to people who need it'.

Henry said 'A lot of people don't realise there's poverty in Winchester and it's really good that people are trying to help'.
