Amicabilis Concordia: Winchester College Chapel Choir join Eton College for Evensong, Thursday 13 October.

On Thursday, the Quiristers travelled with the Winchester College Chapel Choir to Eton College to take part in a very special service. Amicabilis Concordia is an annual evensong service alternating each year between the two chapels. This year Eton were hosting and the anticipation, certainly of attending parents, to hear these two excellent choirs sing together was palpable.

They did not disappoint. The Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis were expertly sung to Herbert Howells’ beautiful Gloucester service setting. The anthem was Bring us, O Lord God by William Henry Harris, most recently heard at the internment of Queen Elizabeth across the river at St Georges' Chapel, Windsor. The combined choirs produced a glorious and moving rendition, filling the dim lit evening darkness of the chapel.

It was lovely to see ex-Quirister Thomas E now singing in the Eton choir and Oliver M also attended. After the service and brief hellos with parents, the Quiristers and choir were taken off to be given a well-earned Eton dinner.
