Pilgrims' Quizzers

Quizzing has long been a passion at Pilgrims’, but we have not entered the national ‘Schools Challenge’ for some time.

With a strong team this year (Alfie O – Captain, Will W, Henry SM & Edward D), Mr Duncan decided this year was the time to re-enter the fray.

Our first round match, against Haberdasher’s Boys school, took place this afternoon.  It was nip and tuck all the way, with both teams demonstrating impressive knowledge on subjects as wide-ranging as ‘La Scala’ to ‘Taylor Swift’, ‘chemical symbols’ to ‘chocolate’!  Habs held a small advantage at halfway, but at one point Pilgrims’ pulled briefly into the lead.  However, the final score was Habs A 420 and Pilgrims’ 380.

Disappointing, yes, with various of the boys kicking themselves for not remembering answers – always difficult under pressure.  However, losing in the first round enters us into the plate competition, so there is the prospect of more matches to come!
