PPA Drinks' Party and opening of 'The Bower'

We were delighted to officially open The Bower, our new outdoor classroom space, with celebrations that brought together boys, staff, parents and the wider school community.

A "bower" is traditionally a pleasant, shaded place nestled amongst trees or greenery - a fitting name for this inspiring learning environment designed to connect our boys with nature. With its natural setting and excellent acoustics, The Bower also doubles as a unique bandstand, and we look forward to it being enjoyed by a wide variety of groups in the years to come.

The creation of The Bower was made possible by the generous support of our wonderful PPA and the families of our 2023 and 2024 Year 8 leavers, whose contributions helped bring this vision to life. The official opening took place during the PPA Summer Drinks' Party last Friday, where parents (past and present) and staff thoroughly enjoyed the magical atmosphere created by the combination of the Pilgrims' Jazz Band, the beauty of the River Itchen and the perfect summery weather! We are extremely grateful to the PPA and thank Sarah and her team for organising such a lovely event.

Earlier this week, the boys marked their own special opening of The Bower. Surrounded by the sights and sounds of the outdoors, it promises to be a peaceful and engaging setting for creative thinking, exploration, and discovery across the curriculum. With more to look forward to as the summer term progresses, The Bower is already becoming a much-loved part of school life.
