PPA Fireworks event - review from PPA Chair

The PPA held its annual Fireworks Night last Friday, which went with a proverbial bang!

After agonising over a particularly adverse weather forecast, which thoughtlessly threatened to dampen our enthusiasm, Mr Duncan and I decided to don our coats, brave the elements and go ahead with the outdoor plan.

This proved a great success; (most) of the rain went south, and Pilgrims' enjoyed a fabulous evening, with boys of all ages dashing between stalls, partaking of anything and everything. Popcorn was in abundance (enormous thanks to Eleanor and George for ever-stalwart provision), goalies were beaten, faces painted, and an excellent supper provided by Sam and her wonderful catering staff.

As darkness fell, we raised our umbrellas and headed to Wolvesey field to enjoy a spectacular display of fireworks. Illuminating the old walls of the castle, which must have seen a few explosions in its time, this was a fabulous community event, that after much-appreciated fervour from the tireless PPA (thank you!), kept us all mesmerised.
