Year 7 History trip to Hampton Court Palace

We had a wonderfully sunny and engaging day at this exceptional palace.
The Education staff at the historic city palace (HCP) were fantastic and adjusted our session times so that the boys didn't miss out on their full-costumed tours. The first tour was a fast-paced roller-coaster ride through the religious turmoil of the Tudor monarchs. It was delivered expertly, and the boys acted out their parts with humour and a strong understanding of the material.
The second tour, Secrets of the Palace, took us to areas not open to the public, which were truly fascinating. We learned stories of kings escaping and ghosts haunting the palace walls. Once again, the quality of the education staff was impressive, and the boys were thoroughly entertained. We enjoyed our picnic lunch in the Tiltyard and returned to the coach taking a pleasant walk through the grounds to return to Winchester on time.
I would like to thank Mr Darlow, Mr Cuyler, Miss Taylor, and of course, the kitchen staff (for providing our lunches). These trips are vital for broadening our boys' learning experiences, and their support contributed to a successful and enjoyable day out.
Please consider enhancing our study of the Tudors by encouraging your sons to read books, watch films, or visit a Tudor museum or castle. There is so much material available, much of it about Henry's marriages. However, I would like the boys to consider a broader study of the period and to look at the changes to religion and to the lives of people in England. I would be happy to make suggestions if you could email me directly.
