This week's recipe from the French department: Poulet á la bretonne​​​​​​​

Poulet à la bretonne is a creamy chicken dish from Brittany that’s perfect for this time of year. As you cook, use a few French words — it’s a fun way for your son to see how *le français* can be part of everyday life.

You will need:

  • 4 *cuisses de poulet* (chicken thighs)
  • 1 *oignon* (onion), chopped
  • 150g *champignons* (mushrooms), sliced
  • 150ml *crème fraîche* (cream)
  • 1 *cuillère à soupe* (tablespoon) of *moutarde* (mustard)
  • A little *beurre* (butter) or *huile* (oil) for cooking

**Method:**

  • Gently cook the *cuisses de poulet* in *beurre* until golden.
  • Add the *oignon* and *champignons* and cook for a few minutes.
  • Stir in the *moutarde* and *crème fraîche* and simmer for 10–15 minutes until the chicken is cooked through.
  • Serve with *riz* (rice) or *pommes de terre* (potatoes).
