This week's recipe from the French department: Bûche de Noël Recipe

**Merry Christmas!** Why not try this lovely French dessert over the holidays and enjoy a sweet taste of France?
Chocolate Yule Log
**Ingredients**
- 4 large eggs
- 100 g sugar (about ½ cup)
- 80 g flour (about ⅔ cup)
- 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- A pinch of salt
- 200 ml whipping cream
- 150 g chocolate (milk or dark)
- Icing sugar for decoration
**Instructions**
1. Make the Sponge Cake**
- Preheat the oven to **180°C (350°F)**.
- In a bowl, whisk the eggs and sugar until pale and fluffy.
- Add the flour, cocoa powder, vanilla, and salt. Mix gently.
- Pour the batter onto a baking tray lined with baking paper and spread it into a thin rectangle.
- Bake for **10–12 minutes**, just until lightly springy.
**2. Roll the Cake**
- When the cake comes out of the oven, place a clean tea towel on top.
- Flip the cake over, peel off the baking paper, and gently roll the cake up inside the towel.
- Let it cool completely. This helps it keep its log shape!
**3. Make the Filling**
- Warm the whipping cream until hot (but not boiling).
- Add the chocolate and stir until melted and smooth.
- Chill for 10–15 minutes, then whisk until thick and fluffy.
**4. Build Your Yule Log**
- Carefully unroll the cooled cake.
- Spread most of the chocolate cream inside.
- Roll the cake back up gently.
- Spread the remaining cream on the outside to look like bark.
- Use a fork to make “tree” lines and sprinkle icing sugar like snow.
**5. Decorate**
- Add berries, small candies, sprinkles, or mini Christmas decorations
- Enjoy!
