30 of our Year 8s ventured out for a superb evening of orchestral music, courtesy of the Philharmonia Orchestra under Thomas Søndergård. We had seats in the choir stalls, only a few metres from the players: the view was good, and the sound was immense
Year 3’s observational skills were put to the test when they were asked to identify some unnatural objects cleverly hidden in the grounds by Miss Erasmus.
Invite your boys into la cuisine to make a delicious crème brûlée — it’s a hands-on way to explore French culture, practise a few words like le sucre (sugar) and le lait (milk), and enjoy something truly délicieux at the end.
Always keen to deliver practical lessons to our boys, 8W this week were learning the principles behind how we extract metals from the earth's surface, which is dependent on how reactive the metals are in relation to each other.
The PPA held its annual Fireworks Night last Friday, which went with a proverbial bang!
It is easy to forget that, tucked quietly between the costumes and fun of Halloween and the noise and spectacle of Bonfire Night lies All Souls Day, a day of prayer and remembrance for “the faithful departed”. This was commemorated in the College Chapel on Tuesday 4 November with the All Souls Eucharist, where the Chapel Choir sang the Fauré Requiem.
On Thursday, Year 6 made the short journey across the road to the College to have a look at their collection of William Blake materials.
The boys became woodland chefs this week when they had a go at making forest pizzas.
Year 6 have been refining their atmospheric skills of which this is an exquisite example.
It was a good turnout for the recent Commoners' Concert. Do come along to future events, all are welcome and booking is not required.
